Description

Inspired by the Isle of Lewis chess pieces.
The history bonkers team decided to create a chess piece that never existed but should have!
This is Æthelflæd, Lady of the Mercians. She was the daughter of England’s greatest King, Alfred.
She was born around 870 at the height of the Viking invasions of England.
Later in life, she married Æthelred, Lord of the Mercians.
She died on 12 June 918.

Queen Elizabeth II is distantly descended to King Alfred and consequently Æthelflæd.

Made to be more of an ornament rather than an actual playing piece.
Hand-made item. Resin cast then hand finished. Matt finish.
Around 8cm tall or a little over 3.2″.
Æthelflæd can clearly be seen holding a period-style sword whilst sitting on her throne with a shield leaning up next to it.

All items are shipped within 12/24 hrs.
