The letter opener is based on an German Writhen ( Twisted) Hilted sword from about the year 1480.
The production of the minature sword was supervised by the Royal Armouries and isÂ
inspired by swords from their impressive collection.
The Minii replica is of a Writhen Hilted hand and a half sword it was classed as a knightly sword and was quite rare.
The hilt, pommel and cross guard looks like three rods twisted together. On the replica its manufactured from a gilt-bronze.
