Description

In Norway in the year 1880, a large burial mound was excavated by Nicolay Nicolaysen. It was located on a farm in Gokstad.
It was found to contain a well-preserved Viking ship dating back to the year 890, and various other items, which included a number of beds.
Our Gokstad dragon is taken from a carving from one of these beds.
Its around 30cm tall, 15cm wide, and 2.4cm thick.
Its fair weighty to at around 750 gms.
The original was handcarved from an aged piece of oak. The replicas are made from a hand poured polyresin.
The finish is stunning, it really does encapsulte the spirit of the Vikings and resembles the oak orininal to a very high degree.
The piece is designed to be a wall hanging piece and is fitted with a saw tooth hanger on the rear.
