Viking / Saxon Period Steel Shield Boss.
Many Viking/Saxon period shields had a shield Boss.
Its function was to deflect blows of an opponent’s weapon and to provide a space in the main shield for the hand to curl around the grip.
Our shield boss is around 20 cm in diameter.
Its made from 16 Guage Steel
The center rises around 6cm.
There are four pre-drilled holes on the diameter for fixing the shield.
